Norton Confidential - Review

Symantec’s Norton Confidential arrives on the scene as part of the Security 2007 series, aiming to increase the protection of online transactions and stem the flow of Internet fraud.

Symantec have worked extensively to cover for the key software intrusions that a regular user might face. Updated technology has paved the way for enhanced phishing protection, while a new anti-crimeware tracker has been implemented to cut down on instances of key logging. An installation of Norton Confidential can go a long way to correcting issues with malicious content being downloaded unknowingly. The most dangerous of these would have to be the key logger, and Confidential provides a nice alert bar to guarantee a system’s protection from such files.

At the heart of the software, you’ll find the security package acting as a barrier between your Internet browser and questionable websites. Confidential will prevent further communication if you try and submit a request to a fraudulent website – a banking transaction for example. Many of the suspect websites will pose as a trusted organization and provide a reason for the user to enter their details. While the more savvy Internet users might tread with caution during the best of times, Norton Confidential certainly provides a welcome relief to those who can’t distinguish between the legitimate and the downright malicious.

The toolbar that comes with the install package and can be used alongside Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, and the library of privacy files bids to ensure that no unwarranted intruders gain access to the details of your transactions.

Confidential is a relatively small utility, but it works well on surface level. The program should be considered an absolute must for those who regularly use the Internet for their banking. While no application can guarantee full protection from a determined hacker, Norton Confidential certainly takes a step in the right direction and provides a firm barrier of security to your online transactions.
